Welcome to the World, Baby Kathryn!

I can't believe she is here...Perfect in every way! And thankfully, the whole labor and delivery experience was perfect as well! Here is how it all happened:

On Monday, June 22, I worked for about 6 hours before coming home to rest a while. I was supposed to work on Tuesday, but decided to take the day off to spend with the kids and possibly take Kendall to the movie before going in for induction on Wednesday. Mimi got here on Monday afternoon, and we decided to do some yard work! At 38 + weeks pregnant, I was out in the yard in the 90 degree weather pulling weeds and cutting limbs. All of the neighbors stopped to ask what in the world I was doing out there, and my response was "I'm trying to have a baby"! Despite the heat and hard work, my yard was looking so much better! Anyway, I went to bed in anticipation of my last doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning and then spending the day with the kids. However, that's not exactly how it happened...

At 3:15 am on Tuesday, June 23, I awoke to a "burst" when my water spontaneously broke in my bed!! I woke Chet up to tell him, and we jumped up to get bags packed and get to the hospital. Thankfully, Mimi was here to stay with the kids so we didn't have to shuffle them around in the wee hours of the morning. We made it to the hospital (leaving puddles behind me as I walked), and I was admitted straight to my room in preparation for delivery. I was 3-4 cm on arrival, and the contractions were coming strong and frequently. Needless to say, I was begging for my epidural as fast as I could get it! My precious co-workers were working very quickly to make that happen! Within 30 minutes of arrival, I had my epidural and was feeling great! By 6 am, I was 5 cm and just enjoying being pain free and talking with Chet about the fact that we were about to bring another baby girl into this world.  At 7:10 am, I was feeling a lot of pressure. Sharon (my precious nurse and friend) checked me and I was 9 cm. Luckily, they turned off the Pitocin and redosed my epidural to get me comfortable again while we waited on Dr. Young to get there. By 8:00, Mimi and the kids had made it to the hospital. Kendall was so excited about it, but Sam was very unsure and "standoffish" in the beginning. 

Dr. Young came in, and I was ready for delivery.

 On JUNE 23, 2015 at 8:29 am, our precious blessing, Kathryn Stovall Abraham made her appearance into this world (with only 2 pushes and 2 coughs)! It was the quickest, easiest delivery! There is something so very special about that moment of placing this very precious baby on your chest for the first time and realizing what a miracle God has just entrusted us with! 

...And to think that I was crying and so overwhelmed when I found out I was pregnant... This has turned into one of our greatest gifts and blessings from above!

Father's Day 2015

Happy Father's Day to the BEST daddy in the world! We are so thankful for all that he does for us and for the sacrifices he makes!

Sam has gotten very opinionated about what he is going to wear. He picked out his own shoes today, which were red sandals that were entirely too small and didn't match his pink shirt! We choose our battles and it wasn't worth the fight. We all got a good laugh about it! 

We LOVE to swim!

The kids absolutely love to swim. They beg for a swimming pool every day! Luckily, our good friends, The Brands, let us come use their pool anytime! We have spent a lot of time swimming lately because it's so hot and there is nothing else to do outside that is bearable in the heat! Kendall is a little fish! Sam has just finished swimming lessons so he is getting brave about jumping off the diving board and swimming. Chet is so sweet to always get in the pool with them and throw them around and have a good time with them! I'm so big and pregnant right now that all I want to do is float in the pool! The Tooth Fairy is Coming!

On June 9, Kendall pulled her very first tooth...Yes, you heard me correctly. She pulled her tooth all by herself! We were at the swimming pool and she wiggled, pulled, and it came out. She was excited (crying with laughter), and Chet and I were so proud of her! She is 6.5 years old and she has waited so patiently for her tooth to come out. The tooth fairy came and left her a glittery note and $5 bill. She was pumped! "Sparkle" even let her keep her very first tooth! I have a feeling there will be more visits from "Sparkle" very soon!

Itchy, Itchy!

Well, the dreaded finally happened...LICE. Yep, at almost 37 weeks gestation, I had to treat both of the kids, me, Chet, and wash the entire house (basically) at least 2 times. I'm worn flat out with it. I've actually sat in the floor and cried on several occasions.

The daycare told me on Friday that they had a lice breakout, but Kendall appeared to be fine. I immediately went and bought lice repellant shampoo and washed her and Sam with it. I combed through their hair and found nothing. On Saturday morning, I did the same thing, but again, found nothing. On Saturday evening after bath, I combed one more time...that's when the dreaded lice appeared. 3 bugs in Sam's hair and 1 in Kendall's. It was 9:30 pm and that's when the exhaustion began. Chet went to Walgreens and bought several lice shampoos. I immediately put them back in the tub and went to work. Among all the tears (and a phone call to Mimi b/c let's face it, everyone needs their mama in a crisis), I stripped beds, bagged up pillows and blankets and stuffed animals, vacuumed floors and couches after spraying them with spray, etc...I went to bed after midnight, got up at 2:30 am to change the laundry, and went back to bed. This cycle lasted about 4 days...and I'm still not quite finished with the laundry. My poor washer and dryer has run non-stop since Saturday night. I'm thankful it didn't break on me! I'm hoping we have seen the last of the bugs FOREVER!! I'm super paranoid now, though, so I'm always going to be on the lookout for them!
